Sunnyvale residents can deck the curb with Christmas trees – The Mercury News
Christmas tree recycling
Sunnyvale residents who live in a single-family home, duplex, triplex or mobile home can place Christmas trees at the curb for collection until Jan. 23. Multi-family households should check with the property manager or owner to determine where to place trees for collection.
Trees placed outside for collection should have all decorations, light strands and tree stands removed and be cut into 4-foot lengths or shorter. They can be placed in yard trimmings carts if the lid closes.
Flocked trees sprayed with imitation snow are treated as garbage. Single-family residents can dispose of them by cutting the tree into small pieces and placing it in the garbage cart, scheduling an on-call collection for curbside pickup at https://bit.ly/3N277sT or bringing it to the SMaRT Station at 301 Carl Road, which charges $56 for disposal ($27 for unflocked trees).
Unusable holiday light strands can be recycled at the SMaRT Station at no charge.
Bulky item pick-up
Starting this month, multi-family residents and property managers can schedule free bulky item collection appointments. Each multi-family unit can schedule two appointments per calendar year. Each appointment allows pickup of up to two bulky items.
This program helps residents dispose of items such as mattresses, furniture, large electronics, exercise equipment and children’s play equipment. This program does not accept household hazardous waste or property-owned appliances like refrigerators, stoves or dishwashers.
Schedule an on-call pickup online at https://bit.ly/49xhMVd or on the Sunnyvale Recycles Right app.
